Miss World Canada Alexa Marie Grant joined the Canadian Cancer Society’s CIBC Run for the Cure in Toronto, completing the five-kilometre course in memory of her aunt, Milet Fabila, who passed away from breast cancer a few years ago. For Alexa, the run was more than an event: it was a heartfelt tribute to someone whose belief in her helped build her confidence and nurture her love of music. Alexa recalled how her aunt always encouraged her to believe in herself and share her musical talents. Completing the run offered a simple yet powerful way to celebrate her aunt’s life and carry that encouragement forward. The event’s 35th edition brought thousands of people together in Toronto to honour loved ones, celebrate breast cancer survivors and support those affected by the disease. Across Canada, more than 65,000 participants raised over $18 million for the Canadian Cancer Society. Running alongside so many people united by the cause made the experience especially moving for Alexa. As she prepares to represent Canada at the upcoming Miss World Festival in Tanzania, Alexa’s participation reflects the personal experiences that continue to inspire her. Through the Pink October initiative, she honoured her aunt’s memory and stood in solidarity with individuals and families affected by breast cancer.
